Tarot cards tap into two things: the world we cannot see and our own experiences. There are clearly things beyond the world we see. Do Tarot cards tap into this? I would tend to doubt it. I think Tarot cards true power comes from you. The cards have do not really have any meaning until you interpret them with aspect of your life. And I think that process where you think about things in your life is the real power. I bought a deck of cards and book at Barnes and Noble. I will add which is is later. The first ones I bought I did not like. Maybe it was chi or just a poorly written book. I find the set I have now is great! I thin you need an attractive set of cards and good guidance to get started.

There are some exceptional beginner decks out there, the rider waite tarot cards being my favorite. Again, take the information that you get from them and check with your intuition first. Does a deck speak to you? And if so, what does it say? Do you think you’d be able to have a fulfilling chat with it? If you get a brilliant “yes”, that’s a superb starting point.

I had several disappointing experiences with tarot cards until this spring when two things occurred.
First, I bought the rider waite tarot cards. I do not know how to describe it but the pictures rang true with me like no other deck had before.
Second, I was given a book by Gerd Ziegler. Wow. what a book! His words genuinely helped me unpack the images and get a sensation of what i might learn from them. I prefer to sit with the cards I draw and contemplate them on my own first, but there are some pictures that just aren’t as accessible as others and that is where notations from the book come in.
